Hello & Happy February!

If you hadn't already done some winter-weather planning, the recent snowfall might have prompted you to think through some proactive protection for your home, your car, and even your loved ones. This is the time of year when the weather can get dicey and the last thing we want is to find out we don't have what we need to protect us most in the days ahead.

The same can be true for your estate plan, your finances, your retirement accounts, and much more. George Washington in 1799 said it best, "The best defense is a good offense."  When it comes to protecting what matters most, proactive offense will go a long way!

Consider taking this time of the year to organize a legacy box. A place where important papers, documents, and contact information are kept in case of emergencies. While you're gathering those items, take a moment to see if everything looks current and up to date. Of course, if you're not sure about your estate plan documents, give us a call! We're always here to review those with you so you can have peace of mind that your estate plan serves you best!

It's the perfect time of year to tackle this type of project! Get proactive and put the best game plan together for the protection of what matters most!

With Gratitude,

April

PS... Please note the following change to our office hours to give our team a little more time to better serve you:

Monday – Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
Closed daily for lunch: 12:00 noon – 12:30 p.m.

Our team will still be working hard on Fridays, but we are closing the office to clients and visitors in the afternoon to provide review, analysis, and legal services for our clients' ongoing matters.

What's new with us...
Comfort, love and kindness… something we all want. And… it's something we all can give – in the form of pajamas! Pajamas? You bet!

We've partnered with the Long Term Care Ombudsman for their 11th Annual Pajama Drive and we're asking YOU to drop off new adult pajamas, sweatpants, and sweatshirts, as well as gowns to our location.

We're happy to be a drop-off site for this drive so bring those new items with the tags still on to our office anytime Monday thru Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Fridays between 9 a.m. and noon. Who is this organization that we chose to partner with? We're so glad you asked!

The Long Term Care Ombudsman is a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting residents of long-term care facilities as well as their families, and each year they depend on community donations of new, adult pajamas to give to residents.  The Ombudsman works with volunteers to champion resident-driven advocacy all year in nine counties throughout Northeastern Indiana and in more than 84 facilities. The nonprofit responds to more than 100 complaints per month from residents and their families concerning the care that is being offered in area nursing homes. Last year the drive collected 500 pajamas and we're hoping with your help that we'll go way past that number this year! Now more than ever, nursing home residents need some kindness and comfort. Let's give it to them in the form of your donated pajamas!

Do your parents need to update their estate plan?

As our parents get older and begin to lose their independence, many will turn to their adult children to help them navigate the complicated and costly world of long-term and end-of-life care. For adult children already caring for young kids of their own, this new role of “caregiver” can be in a difficult one to assume without the right legal documents in place.  >>> READ MORE <<<
